Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made
Were every stalk on earth a quill
And every man a scribe by trade
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry
Nor could the scroll contain the whole
Though stretched from sky to sky
I've always loved the visual of this verse in this wonderful hymn. It reminds me that God and his Love is far greater than what my simple human mind can comprehend.I have never been one to lift my hands in Worship, but this would be one of the few songs that can do it.
Because of this, to me, the opening image on this page, is one of the most spiritual-stirring images I have ever taken.
The Love of God

Could we with ink the ocean fill
And were the skies of parchment made.

Were every stalk on earth a Quill,
And every man a scribe by trade
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry

Nor could the scroll contain the whole
Though stretched from Sky to Sky.
